Sergio Ramos has reportedly been offered a surprise return to LaLiga, with Getafe interested in signing the former Real Madrid and Spain defender as a free agent.

Ramos, 40, has been without a club since leaving Mexican side Monterrey last December. He has not played in his home country since 2024.

The defender is regarded as a LaLiga and Spain legend after winning five league titles and four Champions Leagues during his career, as well as the World Cup and several other honours.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Getafe are exploring the possibility of bringing Ramos to the club. The proposed move would see him return to Spain after his spell in Mexico.

Getafe have already reunited with one of Ramos’ former Real Madrid team-mates this season, having signed Daniel Carvajal after his departure from Real Madrid at the end of last season.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1 at the Bernabeu to claim an eighth consecutive LaLiga home victory and reduce Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table to six points.

Real Madrid returned to domestic action after their dramatic 4-3 UEFA Champions League comeback win over Roma. Jose Mourinho’s side had to respond to another Barcelona victory on Saturday, with the Catalan club continuing to set the pace in the title race.

The hosts went ahead after 30 minutes through Arda Guler. Jude Bellingham switched play to Yan Diomande, who found the Turkish midfielder on the other side of the pitch. Guler then produced an outstanding looping finish over Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Vlachodimos denied Mbappe a second goal for Real Madrid soon afterwards, stretching out a leg to block the French forward’s effort. However, Mbappe was on target seven minutes after Guler’s opener.

Bellingham created the goal with an exquisite backheel into Mbappe’s path. The forward gathered the ball with a fine piece of footwork before making his way into the area and finishing from close range.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had little to do during the opening half, but he was required to make an excellent one-handed save in stoppage time to keep out a strike from Lucien Agoume.

Sevilla showed some attacking intent after the interval when Felix Correia’s long-range effort took a deflection and went over the crossbar. Real Madrid then extended their advantage from the penalty spot.

Diomande played the ball through to Mbappe, whose heels were clipped by Castrin inside the area. Referee Mateo Busquets awarded the penalty and Mbappe sent Vlachodimos the wrong way with a composed panenka.

Courtois was tested again when Youssouf Fofana, who is on loan from AC Milan, struck from just outside the box. The goalkeeper reacted well to parry the attempt away.

Sevilla refused to surrender and were rewarded for their pressure when Manuel Bueno took advantage of uncertain Real Madrid defending. He cut the deficit with a clinical left-footed finish, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.

Those hopes lasted only two minutes. Diomande completed another impressive performance by restoring Real Madrid’s three-goal advantage with a powerful strike.

The result gives Jose Mourinho’s team six wins in their past seven matches in all competitions, with their only defeat coming in that sequence being one loss. It also moves Real Madrid above Real Betis into third place ahead of next week’s El Clasico against Barcelona.

Sevilla remain sixth after a third league defeat of the season. They are now without a win in their past 16 LaLiga meetings with Real Madrid, recording two draws and 14 defeats.

Arda Guler was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.

Sevilla defender Kike Salas criticised the refereeing during the first half of his side’s match against Real Madrid, arguing that Arda Guler should have been dismissed before scoring.

Guler was involved in an off-the-ball incident with Peque in the 23rd minute. As the two players contested possession, the Real Madrid midfielder swung his arm and struck his opponent in the face with his elbow.

Peque fell to the ground, but the referee decided not to show Guler even a yellow card.

Guler then opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Real Madrid extended their advantage seven minutes later when Kylian Mbappe made it 2-0.

Salas expressed his frustration with the officials’ decision during a first half in which Sevilla fell two goals behind.

Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed the club are interested in signing former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

Torres said he had already held talks with Ramos’ brother and agent, Rene Ramos, about a possible move. However, he stressed that bringing in the centre-back is not currently Getafe’s main priority.

The club’s immediate focus is on strengthening the wide areas of their attack before considering a move for Ramos.

Ramos made his last official appearance for Mexican side Monterrey in December 2025. His contract expired at the end of that year, leaving him without a club since 1 January.

Despite his age, the defender has no plans to retire and could yet return to La Liga if Getafe decide to pursue their interest.

A move to the club would see Ramos reunited with Dani Carvajal, who joined Getafe last week.

Real Madrid hosted Sevilla in the ninth round of La Liga, with the home side leading 4-1.

The match coverage included the starting line-ups, live updates and the latest score as the game unfolded.

Real Sociedad claimed a convincing 5-2 victory away to Malaga in the ninth round of the Spanish league, with all seven goals coming in an entertaining contest.

The visitors made the stronger start and took the lead after only three minutes when Takefusa Kubo found the net. Orri Oskarsson doubled Real Sociedad’s advantage in the 26th minute, leaving Malaga with a two-goal deficit at half-time.

Malaga responded after the interval and reduced the gap through Adrian Nino in the 54th minute. Their hopes of completing a comeback were dealt a blow five minutes later, however, when Mikel Oyarzabal restored Real Sociedad’s two-goal lead.

Pablo Martinez brought the home side back within one goal in the 66th minute, but the renewed uncertainty lasted only 60 seconds. Oyarzabal scored again to complete his brace and make it 4-2.

Goncalo Guedes completed the scoring in the 73rd minute as Real Sociedad secured a five-goal away victory.

Russian midfielder Arsen Zakharyan remained an unused substitute throughout the match.

Real Madrid will host Sevilla today, 18 October, in the ninth round of La Liga.

Head coach Jose Mourinho has selected Thibaut Courtois in goal, with Federico Valverde captaining a starting line-up that also includes Ibrahima Konate, Dean Huijsen, Marc Cucurella, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham, Ousmane Diomande, Endrick and Kylian Mbappe.

Vinicius Junior is unavailable for the match after beginning a four-game suspension. The forward was sent off in Real Madrid’s previous league fixture.

Kick-off at the Santiago Bernabeu is scheduled for 22:00 Moscow time. Events from Madrid will be available to follow through LiveResult’s text commentary.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is considering Didier Deschamps as a potential replacement for manager Jose Mourinho, according to Radio Marca.

Perez is reportedly assessing the former France manager as an option if Mourinho fails to improve the team’s situation.

Real Madrid are fourth in La Liga after eight matches, with 18 points. Their next game is at home against Sevilla on 18 October.

Deschamps, 58, has been without a club or international role since the 2026 World Cup, after leaving the France national team.

The former midfielder has previously managed Monaco, Juventus and Marseille. During his time in charge of France, he led the team to victory at the 2018 World Cup and the 2020/21 Nations League.

Barcelona will be without Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde for their upcoming Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain because of injuries, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Garcia is expected to be out for three to four weeks after suffering an injury in Barcelona’s recent match against Real Betis. The defender will definitely miss the fixture against PSG and the La Liga meeting with Real Madrid.

Kounde will also be unavailable for the match against the French club. However, the France international could recover in time for El Clasico.

A decision on whether Kounde will be fit to face Real Madrid will be made at a later date.

PSG host Barcelona on Tuesday, 20 October, while Barcelona’s La Liga match against Real Madrid is scheduled for Sunday, 25 October.

Celta claimed a 2-1 home win over Alaves in the ninth round of the Spanish championship, with all three goals coming after half-time.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 54th minute when Ferran Jutgla found the net to put Celta ahead. Their advantage was doubled 17 minutes later as Xavi Rodriguez scored, leaving Alaves with a difficult task in the closing stages.

Alaves continued to push and pulled a goal back in the 87th minute through Hugo Novoa. The visitors tried to rescue a point late on, but Celta held firm to preserve their lead and take all three points.

Osasuna claimed a 2-0 home win over Racing in the ninth round of the Spanish championship.

The hosts took control after just nine minutes when Ante Budimir converted a penalty to open the scoring. Racing tried to respond after falling behind but could not find an equaliser before half-time.

Osasuna continued to protect their advantage after the interval and settled the outcome late in the match. Asier Osambela scored in the 88th minute to add a second goal and complete the victory.

Vladimir Kuzmichyov, who represents Russian midfielder Alexey Batrakov, has commented on praise from Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick.

The German manager spoke positively about the 21-year-old before Barcelona’s Champions League league phase match against Galatasaray in the second round.

Batrakov scored in the game, but Galatasaray were beaten 4-1 at home by Barcelona.

The Russian midfielder is valued at €28m by Transfermarkt.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho says he would have left the club this summer if he had been in Vinicius Jr.’s position, but believes the Brazilian forward remained because the club and Madrid are his home.

Vinicius Jr. had been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu during the summer, with Premier League champions Arsenal reportedly interested. However, the 26-year-old eventually signed a new contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until 2032.

He will miss tonight’s LaLiga match at home to Sevilla, who are fifth in the table, one place and four points behind Mourinho’s side. Vinicius is serving the first game of a four-match suspension after receiving a straight red card during last week’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal.

The forward appeared to have doubled Real Madrid’s advantage 20 minutes after coming on, converting Jude Bellingham’s cutback. However, a VAR review ruled out the goal and Vinicius was dismissed for pulling the hair of Nathan Saliba.

It would have been only his second goal for the club this season. His first, and so far his only one, came on 26 August in the second game of the campaign against Real Sociedad. He has also scored for Brazil in a friendly against Australia.

The reduced return represents a noticeable dip in form for a player who has won 14 honours since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo as an 18-year-old in 2018.

Vinicius has subsequently faced jeers and taunts from Real Madrid supporters, known for their demanding standards. The pressure increased after his performance in midweek against Roma in the Champions League.

With Real Madrid trailing 3-1 shortly before the hour mark, Mourinho substituted Vinicius. His replacement, Endrick, helped inspire a remarkable comeback as the Spanish side won 4-3 in the Italian capital.

Despite the criticism, Mourinho offered public backing to Vinicius before the Sevilla match and said the player’s attachment to Real Madrid and the city had influenced his decision to stay.

“If I were him, I probably wouldn’t be here,” the Portuguese manager said.

“I would have forced my exit over the summer to a club, league and country that respects me. But this club is his home and that is why he has stayed. I doubt I would have the psychological strength to stay when I had so many options.”

A report in Spanish newspaper ABC has criticised referee Ricardo de Burgos following Barcelona’s 5-2 La Liga victory over Real Betis.

Journalist Salvador Sostres argued that a series of decisions by de Burgos damaged the match and placed Real Betis under excessive pressure. He highlighted several incidents, including the confrontation that led to Facundo Bernal being sent off.

Sostres said the referee’s influence, combined with what he described as straightforward bad luck, left Real Betis effectively broken during the game.

The article also focused on the contrasting situations involving Lamine Yamal and Vinicius Junior ahead of El Clasico. Sostres noted that Yamal could be available to face Real Madrid, while Vinicius Junior will miss the fixture because of a recent suspension.

According to the journalist’s assessment, Real Betis were overwhelmed not only by Barcelona’s attacking display but also by the pressure created by the officiating and the misfortune they experienced during the match.

Real Madrid face Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday, 18 October, with both sides separated by four points in the table.

Sevilla are fifth on 14 points. Their record consists of four wins, two draws and two defeats, while their goal difference is +1.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is concerned about the fitness of three players ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

Gerard Martin and Eric Garcia were substituted during the match against Real Betis after experiencing discomfort. Jules Kounde is also dealing with a problem.

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona will play on Tuesday, 20 October. Kick-off is scheduled for 22:00 Moscow time.

Barcelona have sent a social media message to Alejandro Balde on his 23rd birthday after the defender made only one appearance for the club in the 2026/2027 season.

Balde played 12 minutes against Racing in mid-September before the final whistle ended the match. He has not featured since.

Barcelona’s post came on Sunday, when the Spain international celebrated his birthday.

Head coach Hansi Flick previously acknowledged that Balde’s situation at Barcelona was difficult, although the club have won all 11 of their matches so far this season.

Barcelona now face important fixtures against PSG and Real.

The winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or will be announced at a ceremony in London at the end of October, with Kylian Mbappe’s individual record making him a leading contender for the award.

The Real Madrid forward was the top scorer in Spain’s top flight last season, scoring 25 goals, including eight penalties. He also finished as the Champions League’s leading scorer after finding the net 15 times, three of those goals coming from the penalty spot.

Those numbers were not matched by team success. Real Madrid finished second in La Liga and were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They therefore failed to win either competition.

Mbappe continued his outstanding personal form with France at the 2026 World Cup during the summer. He contributed 14 goals and assists, scoring 10 times and setting up four goals, and finished as the tournament’s leading scorer.

It was the second consecutive World Cup at which Mbappe had won the Golden Boot. At the age of 27, he has scored 22 goals in World Cup matches, the highest total in the competition’s history. The players closest to him have already ended their international careers, while Mbappe is likely to feature at at least two more major tournaments and could extend that record significantly.

However, his goals again did not result in international silverware. France failed to win a medal after losing to England in the match for third place.

Mbappe makes his ambitions clear

Mbappe has compared his current level with the period when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo competed for the Ballon d’Or. The France forward has spoken openly about that ambition in interviews with international media, including France Football, the publication responsible for awarding the prize.

“I became the top scorer in all the biggest tournaments, and I think this year could turn out well for me. I have a good feeling,” Mbappe said.

His willingness to discuss the award has ensured he remains at the centre of media attention. Such an approach might once have been unusual, but the decision will ultimately be made by journalists, making visibility an important part of the contest.

Mbappe arrives at the ceremony with a rare collection of individual honours. He was the leading scorer in La Liga, the Champions League and the World Cup during the same period.

The absence of team trophies with both Real Madrid and France could nevertheless count against him. Mbappe has made no secret of his desire to win the Ballon d’Or and has drawn comparisons with the era dominated by Messi and Ronaldo.

The outcome will be decided in London at the end of October, when the jury must determine whether exceptional individual statistics or team success should carry greater weight.

Real Madrid are strong favourites to defeat Sevilla when the two sides meet in the ninth round of La Liga on Saturday, 18 October.

The match at Real Madrid’s home ground is scheduled to kick off at 22:00 Moscow time.

Bookmakers’ analysts have given Real Madrid a 77.4% chance of winning. Sevilla’s prospects of securing all three points have been assessed at 8.7%, while the probability of a draw stands at 13.9%.

That leaves Sevilla with no more than a 24% chance of avoiding defeat in the fixture.

Recent meetings also favour Real Madrid. They have won each of the teams’ past five encounters, recording two 1-0 victories, two 2-0 wins and a 4-2 success.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi Espart says facing Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid is the kind of opportunity players dream about from childhood.

The 19-year-old is preparing for two major fixtures in the space of five days, with Barcelona travelling to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on 20 October before hosting Real Madrid on Sunday, 25 October.

“It is what you dream of from childhood,” Espart said of the upcoming matches.

Barcelona will arrive at both games in strong form. Hans-Dieter Flick’s side extended its winning run to 11 matches on Saturday with a 5-2 victory away to Real Betis.

The result kept Barcelona top of La Liga on 27 points.

The visit to Paris comes first, followed by the home meeting with Real Madrid in what will be a significant period for Flick’s team.
